Kat Calaway grew up in Bigfork, Montana. Kat was an avid basketball player and long distance runner in high school, going on to run Cross Country for her college freshman and sophomore year. However, fitness fell into the back seat in Kat's life until at 30 years old she was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. At 31, Kat was introduced to CrossFit at Captain CrossFit in Prescott, Arizona and she quickly fell in love with the diversity of Crossfit training and the community. Kat lost over 80 pounds and worked her way out of being a type 2 diabetic using CrossFit and healthy lifestyle changes. After using CrossFit to change her own life for the better Kat wanted to help other people change their own lives like she had, so she became a CrossFit trainer (now L2 certified), and now is also USAW Olympic Lifting L1 coach, NASM certified personal trainer and a myofascial stretch therapist.
